Jordyn and Jacob’s Old Town Alexandria engagement session started with a last-minute location switch. It turned out perfect. We met just before sunrise. The streets were quiet. The soft morning colors wrapped around them as they smiled, laughed, and leaned into each other.
Old Town gave us cobblestone charm, waterfront views, and a peaceful morning rhythm. I’ve always dreamed of photographing at Jones Point Park. With both of them being civil engineers, the bridge felt like a poetic backdrop—even if they don’t work with them daily.
They popped champagne together for the very first time. The sound echoed under the bridge as sunlight poured through the trees. A moment of celebration. A season of transition.
This couple’s story is one of patience and endurance. Long-distance love takes intentionality. And now, they’re closing that chapter forever.
Jordyn, the early riser. Jacob, the early riser and night owl. They make space for each other. Balance each other.
Their Virginia Tech roots run deep. During our session, I asked if they had ever considered a photo shoot back where it all began. A few minutes later, we passed a home with a huge VT banner. Naturally, they paused to honor that part of their story.
This summer, they’re saving PTO for their honeymoon in beautiful St. Lucia. But they’re sneaking in a restful trip to Kiawah Beach near Charleston first. Jordyn’s heading straight from the beach to her bachelorette party—destination still a surprise! Jacob will celebrate just two days before the wedding, since his friends are scattered from Guam to across the states.
They’re also training to run the Marine Corps Marathon in October. Partners in every sense—running toward the future side by side.
You two are a joy to photograph. Your quiet morning session was filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Capturing this season for you is a true honor. Long-distance is behind you. No more miles between your mornings and goodnights.
As you count down to your wedding at Bel Air 1740 this September, know I’m cheering you on every step. What a celebration it will be! I can’t wait to capture it all.
Absolutely beautiful pictures of two beautiful people, who obviously were meant to be together as one! You complement each other in so many ways. You are each your own person, having your own likes and dislikes, agreeing to disagree! But always brought together by the love you share for each other♥️. So happy you found each other(with a little help from a mutual friend)♥️. Looking forward to your Big Day👰♀️🤵🏼♥️♥️
